Sammy’s 7 Wu-Tang Clan Inspired Menu

wu

Some people get their favorite rap lyrics turned into tattoos. Others turn them into food.

Well, at least the latter is what jm Curley Executive Chef Samuel Monsour decided to do. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Wu-Tang Clan’s “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers),” and Monsour happens to have a special place for Wu-Tang in his kitchen. So, he decided to transform his next themed specials menu, Sammy’s 7, into an homage to the group.

In an interview with Metro Boston, Monsour spilled the motivation behind the Wu Tang-inspired menu:

I’ve always cooked listening to Wu-Tang, because when I was 13 and a dishwasher in my dad’s restaurant, the guys always listened to them in the kitchen. Since then it’s been a weird, comforting thing to listen to them when I cook. It brings me back to my roots and my early adolescence and all that.

So he decided to draw inspiration from their lyrics, using a quote from each of the nine members to then create an intricate dish.

Whether you’re a Wu-Tang fan or just looking to switch things up at the dinner table, head to jm Curley (21 Temple Place) between now and August 17 for a taste of the latest Sammy’s 7.
