The BET Awards held on Sunday night was filled with memorable performances from J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake, Erykah Badu and many more!
Rock the Bells artist J Cole took the stage with Miguel and gave an unforgettable performance of “Power Trip” and “Crooked Smile” which are both singles off his new album, Born Sinner.
Rock the Bells artist and Paid Dues alumni Kendrick Lamar took home three BET Awards including Best New Artist and Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. In his acceptance speech, the Compton rapper stated the following influential message:
“To my little homeboys and my homegirls back in the city, you looking at me on TV right now, I came up in that same county building, food stamps, welfare section eight,” the Compton-raised rapper said while accepting one of his three trophies. “This is living proof that you can do anything you put your mind to.”
Not only did he win three BET Awards, he also took the stage with Miguel to perform ‘Pour Up’ and with Erykah Badu to perform ‘m.A.A.d. city’ and ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.’
Another memorable moment was when R&B legend Charlie Wilson, was given the Lifetime Achievement Award and performed a medley of his hits alongside Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, India.Arie, Pharrell and Justin Timberlake.
